A few years back, if someone had asked me whether leggings could pass as pants, I'd have answered with a firm 'no.' However, after acquiring a pair of stirrup leggings from Balenziaga, I've become a wholehearted supporter of this style.
But it's crucial to note that not every pair of leggings works for this look. You'll want a more polished version, such as these from Tory Burch. They should have the snug fit of leggings but with added weight and design details that elevate them into a hybrid between pants and leggings (I also like these and these).
What makes them so appealing? For starters, they look fantastic under longer blazers (like this one) or casual outerwear such as raincoats and puffer jackets (I adore this one), particularly when paired with dressy footwear like sock booties. Additionally, they feel very contemporary when styled with long coats and sneakers. And finally, they've essentially replaced skinny jeans — and given their comfort level, they're not going anywhere. So, for me, it's a definite yes to leggings as pants. What's your take?
