BrooklynVegan Staff report — The New Trust warm up for Minus the Bear's Planet of Ice anniversary dates with an Alphaville stop presented by BrooklynVegan.

The New Trust adds NYC date ahead of fall run with Minus the Bear (BrooklynVegan showcase)

BrooklynVegan Staff

Comprised of Josh Staples (hailing from The Velvet Teen), Sara Sanger, and Julia Lancer, The New Trust will be serving as the opening act for the western and southwestern stretch of Minus the Bear's Planet of Ice tenth anniversary outing this autumn. Before kicking that off, though, the band has a handful of additional performances lined up, including a slot at Montreal's Pouzza Fest.

Just a couple of days following Pouzza, the group will travel to New York City for a BrooklynVegan-sponsored gig on May 22 at Alphaville. Local act Caravela — selected personally by The New Trust — will provide support, with one additional opener still to be announced. Tickets can be purchased now. The full run of New Trust dates appears further down.

Their current road work supports last year's Upset the Tides, marking their sixth full-length record. Jack Shirley (known for his work with Joyce Manor, Jeff Rosenstock, Deafheaven, and others) handled the production. The collection delivers a tight assortment of punk, indie, and emo tracks peppered with shoegaze and post-rock elements. Give it a spin below. Caravela's most recent LP, Ski, just hit shelves.

Regarding the Minus the Bear trek, the eastern and midwestern portion with The Coathangers includes stops in the greater New York area: 4/25 at The Stone Pony, 4/26 at Warsaw, and 4/27 at Irving Plaza (tickets). Find every date and additional details here.
