A viral clip is racing across the internet, presenting a wry, satirical take on cyberpunk existence set on a humble Russian rural homestead.
While CD Projekt Red keeps sliding the Cyberpunk 2077 launch further down the calendar and serving up new Night City Wire showcases, devotees of the title — and of cyberpunk aesthetics in general — are funneling their anticipation into creative projects. The crew behind the birchpunk channel opted to yank back the curtain for the community and unveil what genuine, homegrown Russian cyberpunk actually looks like.
Filmed in the spirit of cyberpunk tradition and laced with irony and dry humor, the footage portrays daily routines inside a classic Russian cyber village. The protagonist is a plain-spoken farmer called Nikolai — a thoroughly Russian handle for a thoroughly Russian fellow — hailing from the equally Russian Ryazan region. Breathing, organic, and decidedly non-digital.
A Glimpse Inside the Russian Cyber Village
Nikolai tends to his futuristic homestead, producing cheese, milk, eggs, and the usual farm staples. "That whole story about machinery refusing to function in the countryside? Pure fiction," Nikolai insists. Out where he lives, robots handle the heavy lifting. The milk still comes from cows, of course. The most critical chores have been delegated to mechanical helpers. Visitors will also come across cyber-mail delivery, robot milkmaids, and a generous helping of heartfelt Russian folk ballads. Kick back and soak it all in. :)))))))
