Dreaming of a getaway to Mauritius? If you're planning an escape to this secluded paradise in the Indian Ocean near Madagascar, the Constance Resort collection should be at the top of your list.
I had the chance to explore both the renowned Constance Belle Mare Plage and Constance Prince Maurice. While each left a strong impression, distinct differences emerged that make them better suited for various kinds of travelers.
How to Pick the Perfect Constance Resort in Mauritius / The Blonde Abroad
Here’s a guide to help you choose the Constance Resort in Mauritius that fits you best.
Constance Prince Maurice
Constance Belle Mare Plage
Constance Belle Mare Plage is a five-star property, while Constance Prince Maurice is classified as a six-star resort. Typically, I’d argue that an extra star doesn't automatically mean a place is superior, but I did notice that Constance Prince Maurice felt more upscale.
Regarding the type of groups suited to each, Constance Prince Maurice is an ideal choice for honeymooners and couples seeking a romantic retreat. Even though it was fully booked during my visit, the resort never seemed crowded, and I hardly spotted any children around.
If you're after an atmosphere that feels exclusively adult, this is the spot. For families or groups wanting an energetic holiday, Constance Belle Mare Plage is excellent.
Note: Both Constance Resorts feature the enjoyable and handy Constance Kids’ Club, which keeps young visitors entertained and happy, so either option works well for families with children.

Constance Belle Mare Plage and Constance Prince Maurice both provide full-board packages that cover all meals in the rate. I found the cuisine at both resorts enjoyable, and since food preferences are highly personal, I can't definitively name a winner here.
Prince Maurice offers three solid dining venues: one featuring local dishes, an Asian restaurant, and a lovely floating seafood spot.
Belle Mare Plage boasts seven different restaurants and six bars, giving you plenty of variety, though I was particularly drawn to the fantastic sushi restaurant, Indigo!

Prince Maurice was clearly the top choice for accommodations if you're after a five-star-plus experience. Don't misunderstand—Belle Mare Plage is stunning, but I'd suggest opting for one of its premium rooms, like the Beachfront Junior Suite, for a truly luxurious stay.
We stayed in the Junior Suite with Garden View at Prince Maurice, and it was absolutely ideal. The room came with all the amenities and was situated in a wonderfully secluded area. In addition, they offer larger spaces for families and groups.
However, for large groups, Belle Mare Plage is the better option. It can accommodate twice as many guests and, with more restaurants, bars, and activities, you're more likely to find something that pleases everyone each day.

When it comes to activities, your group size will again be the deciding factor. For couples, especially those who love the beach (and honestly, you have to enjoy sun and sand to make this trip worthwhile), I recommend Prince Maurice.
If you crave a more lively experience with a vast beach to explore and enjoy, choose Belle Mare Plage.
Both resorts feature pools, snorkeling, windsurfing, kayaking, glass-bottom boat excursions, waterskiing, and golf, but everything is on a grander scale at Belle Mare Plage.
