Nearly One-Third of Brides Are Choosing This Daring Wedding Dress Style

by Elinor Block, Who What Wear

Wedding dresses that look almost naked? Yes, it’s a real trend. To be clear, we’re not suggesting you walk down the aisle completely bare, but fresh statistics from one of the industry’s top bridal brands highlight a fascinating shift. Grace Loves Lace reports that nude wedding dresses are skyrocketing in popularity. According to the Australian label, there’s been a 30% increase over the past year in brides “venturing outside the traditional matching of lining to lace, and going for the nude tone.”

Founder Megan Ziems explains that this adventurous spirit stems from a change in how brides view their wedding attire. Rather than following strict rules (like the obligation to wear white), many now see their gown as an extension of their personal style.

Who is gravitating toward this look? “The nude tone lining is definitely for the more adventurous and untraditional woman,” Megan notes, “and also a great second dress option for the reception or after-party.”

The most requested dress from Grace Loves Lace is the Alexandra, a high-neck, open-back gown typically lined in white to match the outer lace. Now, brides are requesting it with a nude lining instead. Would you be bold enough to wear it on your big day? If that level of exposure feels too daring, perhaps one of the lace gowns below will strike the right balance. Scroll on for more naked-style wedding dresses featuring plenty of lace and sheer panels for an extra dash of sass.

Though this stunning dress is quite revealing, the lace overlay provides a sense of coverage.

The nude bodice section is what gives this design its “barely there” appearance.

Prefer to skip the flesh-toned lining but still show a little skin? Opt for a strapless silhouette like this one from ASOS.

A dress with cutouts is every bit as daring as one with nude lining.

The slip peeking beneath this lace gown offers just enough coverage while still revealing a hint of skin. Now you’re ready to strut down the aisle with maximum sass.
