On a rainy, gloomy day, I styled a new apothecary cabinet in our sunroom with faux plants. Discover this charming find and our plans for a lively plant corner.

Introducing a Fresh Apothecary Cabinet in Our Sunroom

Liz Marie Blog

What a dreary day it was today—truly the gloomiest you could imagine. After yesterday’s bright and sunny weather, today felt even darker with all the rain and heavy clouds. Luckily, I kept busy all day and didn’t have much time to dwell on the gray skies. But during a few free moments this afternoon, while arranging some faux plants on a new piece of furniture in our sunroom and watching the rain pour outside, I realized I had completely forgotten to share this item with you. Maybe deep down I was waiting to style it with real greenery and have it feel “finished” with actual dining chairs around it, since it sits next to our breakfast nook. But you know how it is living in a fixer-upper—I often (okay, all the time) have to share the progress around here when nothing is fully done. Even so, it can still look beautiful…

You know I’ve always had a soft spot for cubbies and furniture with lots of drawers—well, here’s a real gem! This adorable little piece came from my friend Ali at Mustard Seed Beginnings [HERE], and I snagged it for our sunroom. She’s always uncovering the most wonderful items, and we’re so lucky to have her in our shop, The Found Cottage. I spent some time styling it with faux plants under those lovely cloches we got from another talented vendor, Jordan at HoneyHomb Market [HERE]. Have I mentioned how fortunate we are to be surrounded by such amazing, creative people? Anyway, the plan is for this cabinet to become the lively heart of our sunroom—a dedicated plant area. I want to place some real plants in the charming drawers, on top of the cabinet, and turn it into a cheerful little living corner that lifts our spirits even on the most overcast days like today. Part of me thinks this piece could fit anywhere in our home, but for now, it’s perfect right here… and I absolutely adore it. As soon as we give it a little more love, add real plants, and style the space around it a bit more, you’ll be the first to know. But for now, here it is in all its glory.

Soon, this cabinet will be joined by new dining chairs, a fresh rug, real thriving plants, and a bit more styling. But I wanted to introduce her to you today, hoping it sparks ideas for your own home spaces and how you can use certain furniture pieces. Thank you SO MUCH for stopping by the blog today and every day to see what we’re up to! Be sure to find me on Facebook and Instagram for more behind-the-scenes moments. xx
