As a child, I was raised to believe that God was an all-powerful male figure residing in the sky, constantly judging our actions as good or bad.
Even at a tender age, I felt a deep curiosity about spirituality and the divine. One day, I asked how God could possibly keep track of everyone's deeds simultaneously. The answer that came to me was simple: birds.
From that moment, I began seeing birds as divine couriers. I imagined they were tasked with reporting to God about human behavior—whether we were acting righteously or not.
Though this concept could easily be the plot of a horror film, it didn't unsettle me in the least. I recall hearing that inner response and simply continuing with my day, unbothered.
Fast-forward to my adult years, and while I no longer believe birds are spying on us or that God is a celestial man, I still hold that birds serve as spiritual messengers and are attuned to our energy!
Looking back through history, the notion of birds as spiritual intermediaries is far from unusual. Angels and birds share similar wing structures, and specific birds are thought to embody or bring distinct qualities. For instance, doves symbolize peace, while a black crow is often seen as an omen of misfortune. Hummingbirds are frequently associated with sweetness and joy, eagles with strength and power, and owls with wisdom.
If you delve deeper, you'll find profound meaning and symbolism attached to nearly every bird species you might encounter.
The sacred nature of birds is often tied to their ability to soar close to the heavens, gaining insights from a higher perspective and frequency.
It's also believed that birds act as vessels, capable of hosting other souls to convey messages.
When a loved one passes away, it's said they can connect with a bird's soul, seeking permission to inhabit its body temporarily to deliver a message to those still on earth.
Other creatures, like butterflies and dragonflies, share this ability, but this is why spotting a bird after losing someone is often interpreted as a sign or message.
This doesn't necessarily mean the bird is your loved one reincarnated (though who can say for sure?). Rather, it's your loved one's soul hitching a ride on a willing bird that has agreed to be a messenger.
Spirit guides and angels can also use birds as vessels to approach you and deliver guidance.
Not long after my sister passed, a pigeon began visiting my balcony. Pigeons are so commonplace that I initially dismissed it as nothing special. Yet this pigeon seemed unusually endearing and inquisitive, sitting on my balcony for extended periods, simply gazing at me.
I wondered if it was a message from my sister, but then reasoned that if she were to send a sign, it would come through a more exotic or rare bird!
The pigeon returned so frequently that I began to question its significance. Once I opened myself to the possibility, I received multiple signs and even a dream confirming it was indeed a message from her!
So even pigeons, as ordinary as they are, can serve as faithful messengers from the beyond! In fact, pigeons were the original carrier birds—intelligent and amiable enough to be trained to deliver letters and notes across vast distances.
Pigeons are also said to symbolize love and to indicate that your loved ones are safe and cared for!
So, the next time you have an unusual encounter with a bird, pay attention and see if you can discern the message they are trying to share with you.
