If you're a fan of iced coffee, there's a good chance you'll enjoy coffee soda. I certainly do! I first mentioned this drink in last year's roundup of 5 Cold Brew Recipes. But with the heat sticking around, I've been craving it again and figured it deserved its own post. ? This recipe couldn't be easier—just two ingredients!
For anyone who hasn't tried coffee soda yet, here's why I love it:
- It's cold. Obviously a huge perk during summer.
- It's refreshing. Sometimes I just want bubbles or sparkling water. I especially appreciate it when my stomach feels off (like during PMS or a hangover—being real here!).
- It's elevated coffee. I drink coffee almost daily, so I love a way to make my routine feel special without piling on extra calories or sugar.
The key to great coffee soda is the coffee itself. Cold brew works best. I'm still using my Kitchen Aid Cold Brew Coffee Maker, but a cold brew toddy is another solid option. Cold brew is ideal because it's higher quality (since you'll serve it over ice) and you need a strong concentrate—after all, you'll be diluting it with sparkling water.
Between us, I'll admit I sometimes save leftover hot coffee in a sealed container in the fridge for coffee soda. Waste not, want not. It still tastes good, but cold brew is superior (and usually stronger).
Just mix cold brew with club soda, sparkling water, or ginger beer. I often use flavored sparkling waters like La Croix, and my current favorites are lime or cherry with coffee. I'm not a fan of coconut personally, but I can imagine it working well here. If you try it, let me know! xo. Emma
