Coronavirus vs. Corona Beer: Why Millions Mistake One for the Other

Search queries connecting coronavirus and Corona beer first appeared around mid-January. Terms like "corona beer virus" began cropping up. Initially sporadic, these searches surged dramatically after January 18.

The trend is most prominent in Cambodia, Singapore, and Malaysia, but also noticeable in New Zealand, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, Norway, Austria, and Denmark.
Of course, no actual evidence links the two beyond the name. "Corona" means "crown" in Spanish and Latin, fitting both the beer's emblem and the virus's crown-like spike proteins. That's where the similarity ends.
Be healthy!
