Compared to other fashion categories, bridal trends evolve more slowly, since most brides lean toward a timeless, classic look. It's rare to see a bride in a bold black dress or a heavily embellished jumpsuit. Still, this year brings several standout trends that could appeal even to the most conventional bride. We spoke with Caroline Burstein, founder of Browns Brides, to learn about the wedding dress trends she’s most excited about for 2018 and believes will make the biggest mark over the coming year. Scroll down to discover—and shop—the five key wedding dress trends for 2018.
Ines Di Santo off-the-shoulder gown.
The off-the-shoulder silhouette has proven extremely popular in recent seasons, and it has now entered bridal fashion, as showcased by Ines Di Santo (above).
Jumpsuit at Gemy Maalouf.
Another major bridal trend on Burstein’s list is the jumpsuit, and she highlights Peter Langner as a leading designer in this category.
Naeem Khan short wedding dress.
Burstein also predicts that short dresses will be a key trend in 2018—ideal for brides who want to break away from tradition and choose something distinctive.
Sachin & Babi pink wedding dress.
When it comes to color, Burstein says nudes and blush pinks will have the greatest influence in 2018, as demonstrated by Monique Lhuillier and Sachin & Babi (above).
Bows at Marchesa.
As for embellishments, bows were a dominant feature during 2018 Bridal Fashion Week, with brands like Marchesa and Oscar de la Renta incorporating dramatic bows, ties, and sashes into their designs.
