“Cycling shorts as everyday wear? I'm with Blair Waldorf on this one: tights are not pants. Kim Kardashian's recent outfit—a baggy tee, cycling shorts, and dad sneakers—looks like a quick trip to the store where you hope no one spots you. Those shorts probably ride up and sag as the day goes on. I'd swap them for simple black leggings.” — Emma Spedding, deputy editor, Who What Wear UK
Do you ever swear you'll never wear something, only to have a designer like Demna Gvasalia change your mind in a single runway show? It happens to the best of us—fashion's purpose is to push us out of our comfort zones. And right now, more so-called 'bad' trends are in style than ever. But some fashion pet peeves stick around forever, especially once you've settled into your own easy, daily uniform.
What have I changed my mind about? Dungarees, for one—if designers make them sleeker and more flattering, I'm all for it. But there's one niche trend I still can't wrap my head around (more on that later). So I asked the Who What Wear UK team to name their least favorite trend or item, and the answers were revealing. Scroll down to see the divisive pieces we struggle with and our top replacement suggestions.

Unless you're channeling Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct (and hey, great character choice), I don't understand the sleeveless turtleneck. If it's cold enough for a turtleneck, you probably need sleeves too. Plus, the bare arms create an awkward temperature mismatch.
“Mesh tops. They're completely impractical. You have to layer them because you're not Bella Hadid and can't go braless, so you end up wearing a shirt underneath. But they don't provide warmth, so they're useless for layering in cold weather, yet somehow they make you sweaty.” — Elinor Block, assistant editor, Who What Wear UK.
“Plastic! Why does fashion think we need more of it? Environmentally, it's concerning that designer houses use so much clear plastic—fast fashion will copy it, and just watch Blue Planet! Plus, it's sweaty, squeaky, and uncomfortable.” — Isabel Mundigo-Moore, associate social media editor, Who What Wear UK.
“I appreciate the street style trend of wearing bras over clothing, but I'll never do it. It looks like you rushed out of bed and put your clothes on in the wrong order.” — Cherry Collins, contributor.
