In a little under fourteen days, I’ll be submitting the final files for the debut issue of our very first print magazine. We’ve been crafting this issue since last year, and it has packed a lifetime of learning into a single project. I didn’t want to end the conversations we started with In the Company of Women, but I also didn’t want to simply repeat the same formula with another volume. So we’re channeling the energy and insights from that book into a magazine where the discussions will be more collective, go deeper, and become even more candid — covering a broader range of subjects. I truly appreciate all the feedback I received from the book (including requests to highlight more rural areas and expand the variety of creative professions), and we’ve poured our hearts into applying those suggestions to this first issue. I don’t know what the future holds for web or print, but I do know I feel proud to share these conversations with the world. Until then (the first issue should arrive in April), I’m racing to finish final edits and taking breaks with small bursts of design inspiration, like this incredible rug from Frances Loom. I could lose myself in patterns like this all day. If you’re in need of design inspiration or a pleasant distraction, check out our favorite links from around the web this week. Have a safe and happy weekend. xo, Grace
Take your vision board to the next level with Free Period Press’ brilliant concept for an “Imaginary Advisory Board.” Count me in — and please add Janelle Monáe to mine.
Transport me to this stunning Australian sculpture garden. And to warmer weather, please.
If Wednesday Addams grew up and relocated to San Francisco (why not?), she’d live here. Cheers to cool, gothic homes.
“If you’re wearing a sequin gown, you better know where you’re going.” Oprah rocking fall fashion (“Fash-ON!”) for In Style might be the most amazing one-minute video clip I’ve seen all month.
This Vans/Sharpie collaboration (by Joshua Vides) is breathtaking. I’d wear these in a heartbeat. Just not here… because our entire town is buried under a foot of slushy snow mud.
These vintage shopping tips from a diverse group of experts make for a fantastic read. Always a handy reminder as we head into spring, when flea markets and giant trunk shows (Hello, Brimfield) start popping up.
