My Go-To Fondue Recipe

I'll be upfront — fondue has never been my weakness. My partner, on the other hand, is completely hooked on it, so I thought I'd give this spin a try since I'm such a big fan of spinach artichoke dip... and let me tell you, my mind was changed for good! This lighter version of spinach artichoke dip is nothing short of spectacular. Every single mouthful was an absolute treat! I also genuinely loved the wholesome dippers we paired it with. Sliced bread and crackers make a perfectly fine alternative, but we couldn't stop dunking our broccoli, sweet peppers, celery, and apples. Cauliflower and carrots, or any other vegetables lying around, would work beautifully as well. In my opinion, the apples and broccoli stole the show alongside this fondue. The way the apple's natural sweetness played off the cheese's tangy sharpness was nothing short of divine.

Mastering the Ideal Fondue

The key to incredible fondue is combining a soft cheese variety with a hard cheese variety to achieve that wonderfully silky consistency. Pick your cheeses based on what's in your fridge or what your children enjoy! When it comes to the spinach, you've got a few choices. My first time around, I went with roughly chopped spinach and the outcome was fantastic — but chopping it more finely will make the dipping process easier for kids!

A wonderful bonus of opting for veggie dippers is that any remaining pieces can be stored in containers and used as wholesome, ready-to-eat snacks for busy days!

Fondue Night with the Kids

Is owning a fondue pot a must? Not in the slightest! You can cook everything in a saucepan on the stove and then transfer it to a warmed serving dish. Just keep in mind that the cheese will begin to firm up, so the dipping experience will be a little less smooth — though the taste remains equally delicious! If you ever decide to invest in a fondue pot, it opens up so many possibilities for both savory and sweet meals! Children can dunk their own favorites and build their own personal plates!
