Meet this delightful berry smoothie—creamy, luscious, and naturally sweet. It’s a breakfast so good you’ll leap out of bed for it. I’ve been enjoying this revitalizing blend for weeks and I’m completely hooked.
To prepare this straightforward gluten-free berry smoothie, you only need seven basic, healthy ingredients: blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, banana, kefir, and quinoa flour. For extra sweetness, you can stir in a teaspoon of maple syrup if desired.
For a vegan version, replace kefir with almond milk—I do this often and it’s just as tasty. If quinoa flour is hard to find, try puffed quinoa, almond flour, or coconut flour instead. The interplay of sweet and tart berries with creamy banana and quinoa flour, blended with a dash of homemade kefir, creates a perfectly balanced, nourishing breakfast you can enjoy throughout the morning.
When time allows, I blend strawberries and raspberries with a little water and set that aside, then blend blackberries and blueberries with banana and quinoa flour. I layer the two mixtures in a tall glass for a striking two-tone effect. Not only does it look gorgeous, but it also lets you savor each berry’s distinct flavor at its peak.
But if your mornings are as hectic as mine—chasing a lively 10-month-old, finishing my first cookbook, and constantly updating the blog with tasty recipes—you know that a sit-down breakfast is a rare treat.
However, that doesn’t mean you should skimp on nutrition. Quite the contrary—this nutrient-dense smoothie is the ultimate grab-and-go breakfast for hectic mornings. Simply toss all ingredients into a high-speed blender (I rely on my trusty Vitamix), and blend for roughly 30 seconds. That’s right—a 30-second breakfast. Pretty amazing, right?
I often prepare a large batch and pour it into my beautiful SIGG Dream bottle, sipping it while dropping baby Noah off at daycare. I’m absolutely smitten with SIGG bottles—they’re elegant and perfect for storing drinks. SIGG, Switzerland’s top reusable bottle brand, has been crafting safe, durable, and stylish bottles for nearly 110 years. Every bottle is BPA- and EA-free, meaning no harmful chemicals. The Dream line is my favorite, available in numerous lovely colors. Made from strong, heat-resistant borosilicate glass, it’s completely leak-proof—no messy spills. My baby loves playing with it, likely due to the soft silicone sleeve, and these features are incredibly handy with kids. If you enjoy hot drinks on the go, check out their Hot&Cold bottles, which let you switch from smoothies to hot tea in an instant.
Whether you need a quick, nutritious breakfast or a healthy afternoon pick-me-up, this berry smoothie is bound to become a staple. Incredibly nourishing and packed with wholesome ingredients, it’s the ideal on-the-go breakfast.
