Acclaimed Icelandic avant-garde composer and experimental musician Jóhann Jóhannsson has passed away in Berlin at the age of 48. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
He is survived by his parents, sisters, and daughter. His manager, Tim Husom, shared the following statement: “I’m utterly heartbroken. Today, I lost a friend who was among the most gifted musicians and sharpest minds I’ve ever encountered. We traveled an incredible journey together.”
