Blue By You from Lipstick Queen: A Denim-Inspired Lipstick Review | British Beauty Blogger

Too young for the 1970s denim craze that turned even eyeshadows blue? This lipstick channels that retro vibe with a color-changing surprise.

Blue By You from Lipstick Queen

If the 1970s denim frenzy—where even eyeshadows came in denim blue and overalls were everywhere—is before your time, that's fine. The double-denim revival of 2014 comes close, minus the flared bottoms. That's the muse for Blue By You (a clever nod to 'Blue Bayou'). Though Poppy King, the founder of Lipstick Queen, is no longer with the brand, I suspect this shade bears her signature style and might be among her last contributions. But I can't confirm that.

Lipstick Queen excels at color-shifting lipsticks—Frog Prince is a prime example. Blue By You follows suit: it appears blue in the tube but transforms upon contact with your skin's warmth. Like its predecessors, it turns into a raspberry pink shade with a hint of shimmer.

I adore the concept: you're at a café, pull out a blue lipstick to apply (attracting stares—because why wouldn't you?), and it turns out not blue but a vampy, blue-toned pink. Wearable blue lipsticks are rare, but this one qualifies. Compared to Hello Sailor, Lipstick Queen's earlier blue offering, this version has shimmer. It hasn't launched at SpaceNK yet, but when it does, the price will be £22.
