MAC Lunar New Year Collection: A British Beauty Blogger's Perspective

Peach and blossom tones define MAC's Lunar New Year collection, launching January 18th with an X9 palette, five lipsticks, and a powder blush.

MAC Lunar New Year Collection: A British Beauty Blogger's Perspective

Overview of MAC Lunar New Year Collection

This collection evokes images of peaches and blossoms. It debuts on the 18th and includes an X9 palette, five lipsticks, and a powder blush. I have two of the lipsticks—Good Health and Prosperity (shown in the front). Good Health has a satin finish, while Prosperity is matte.

The Star of the Collection: Luck & Fortune Palette

The lipsticks are appealing, but the Luck And Fortune palette truly stands out.

A Clever Take on the Sunset Trend

Although Luck & Fortune is entirely peachy and blossom-inspired, it cleverly reinterprets the sunset trend by removing high shine and substituting it with matte finishes. I appreciate the x9 palettes—they are compact, solving storage problems many of us face, and appear more modest than the larger palettes I've encountered recently.

Matte Majority with a Touch of Sheen

Except for the first two shades that have a sheen, the rest are matte. This provides a warm, flattering upgrade from standard neutrals and tones down the sunset trend, so I find it quite appealing.

Blush Palette: Exterior vs Interior

The blush palette's exterior is the most eye-catching due to its ombre design, but the interior lacks excitement. I wish it had blossom embossing to add character.

Wearability and Availability

Nevertheless, it is very wearable, as demonstrated in the swatch above. The lipstick swatches feature Good Health and Prosperity. Available from January 18th at MAC online, Brown Thomas, and Selfridges.
