Mel B has become a significant source of irritation for the production team behind "America's Got Talent," who are now looking to remove her from the show. Their first choice to fill her seat is none other than Queen Latifah.
Insiders from the 'AGT' production team inform TMZ that Mel has frequently clashed with crew members on set. Producers feel that the "baggage" she brings is not worth the high salary the former Spice Girl commands. According to sources, the friction escalated during Mel's bitter divorce proceedings from Stephen Belafonte.
As you may recall, she has engaged in on-screen altercations with Simon Cowell—once throwing a drink at him—but we hear that off-camera tensions have been even more intense.
Producers are reportedly aiming to bring in Queen Latifah for the next season as Mel's replacement. A possible complication is that Queen Latifah is currently under contract with the FOX series "Star."
Judging auditions for 'AGT' are set to begin in just five weeks, meaning time is running short for the network to finalize any changes.
