Making my Milan debut and attending my very first Milan Fashion Week turned out to be an absolute thrill — I'm savoring every moment! Day one had us racing between appointments across the city, squeezing in some sightseeing along the way (a dedicated post covering my beloved Milan haunts is dropping later this week, so keep an eye out). Day two, however, was jam-packed with action. We kicked things off with one of the labels I've cherished for years — Fendi. Anyone who has followed my journey knows just how devoted I am to this house (a recent appearance documented here), so actually being present at the show felt like a fantasy realized.
I'm perpetually drawn to standout pieces that command attention, so for the Fendi presentation I selected a vivid plaid jacket and anchored the look with minimalist black separates and accessories. Beyond the eye-catching color pairing, it was the silhouette and hemline that sealed the deal. It flatters virtually any bottom choice, and the pairing with sleek leather trousers felt just right. To polish everything off, I added satin ankle boots plus a Peekaboo mini bag adorned with a banana charm.
Day 2 Collection Standouts
Genny ranks among the labels championing the crisp tailoring and gleaming metallics associated with 1980s power dressing this season. The A/W 2018 lineup feels forward-looking yet spirited, capturing what fashion excels at: tipping its hat to heritage while winking at what's next. The Thursday showcase leaned heavily on padded shoulders, polka-dot chiffon, and graphic monochrome patterns.
I was completely smitten with my outfit for the Genny presentation — I have a weakness for soft pastels and elongated silhouettes, and the balance here won me over (sweeping wide-leg trousers styled beneath a knee-grazing trench). Sharing the experience with my dearest Jenny of Margo and Me, dressed in harmonious tones, was the cherry on top!
Fendi is diving wholeheartedly into the understated refinement of the 1980s Sloane aesthetic. With Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle dominating public attention, the fashion industry has rekindled its affection for royalty, and there's no finer tribute to these contemporary figures than celebrating the original modern princess — Diana. Fendi's hemlines hitting at the knee, roomy duffle topcoats, structured shoulders, and collegiate blazers express a womanliness that's both spirited and genuine.
Another memorable moment from Milan's second day came courtesy of Emilio Pucci, where sequins collided with vintage-inspired motifs alongside additional 80s power-dressing cues in saturated magentas and turquoise shades.
Vivetta captivated with whimsical checks, polka-dotted pink blazers, and transparent textured hosiery, while Luisa Beccaria radiated gentle elegance through elaborate needlework, subdued hues, and breezy three-quarter-length frocks evoking Edwardian floral motifs.
