Miranda Vee, a model for Guess, has come forward with allegations that Mohamed Hadid—the father of Bella and Gigi Hadid—raped her. Hadid has firmly rejected these accusations.
On Instagram, Vee detailed her experience, explaining that she believed the encounter was a professional meeting for a test shoot, partially arranged by Guess co-founder Paul Marciano. She also alleges that Marciano sexually harassed her. According to Vee, what was supposed to be a coffee meeting turned into something else: she says she ended up alone with Hadid and champagne, and he date-raped her in an apartment. Vee further claims that when she tried to go public with her story last year, Hadid and Marciano pressured her into signing a non-disclosure agreement. According to Vee, she only agreed to sign because Marciano threatened her, saying he would "get me disappeared" if she ever revealed the incident.
Alongside her account, Vee posted screenshots of text exchanges with Hadid and Marciano. One conversation shows Vee informing Marciano about her meeting with Hadid, to which Marciano replied that he had never asked her to do anything with Hadid, and that she had chosen to meet him on her own.
Vee also expressed gratitude to fellow model Kate Upton, whose public criticism of Guess inspired her to speak out. Upton had tweeted her disappointment that Guess permitted Marciano to remain as creative director, and later expanded on Instagram, stating that Marciano should not be allowed to exploit his position in the industry to sexually and emotionally harass women. These developments follow a series of accusations against prominent photographers including Terry Richardson, Mario Testino, and Bruce Weber, who have all faced harassment and assault claims.
Hadid has refuted the allegations, acknowledging that he did meet Vee roughly two years ago, noting that she had described herself as a fan. He labeled her account "completely false" and has reportedly consulted his lawyer about filing a defamation lawsuit against her.
