The past several months have been brutal for Rose McGowan, and among her most chaotic recent headaches was a drug-related arrest this past October. Authorities issued a narcotics warrant after prohibited substances turned up in a wallet Rose accidentally abandoned at an airport in January 2017. By November, she had surrendered to face cocaine possession charges.
Rose entered a not guilty plea. In her view, however, Harvey Weinstein is the only one who should be answering for this mess.
According to TMZ, McGowan is so convinced she was set up that she's pushing to have the case thrown out entirely. Her argument centers on the suspicious nature of the timeline. She points out that roughly five hours elapsed between her deplaning and the moment a cleaning crew discovered her wallet—cocaine still inside. Her attorney stated, "There is simply no point in time at which the evidence places Ms. McGowan and the cocaine together in the same place."
McGowan's legal team has hinted that the drugs were planted and pointed a finger at Weinstein as possibly responsible for the wallet incident. So this isn't simply a narcotics charge—it's the product of "the underhanded targeting of Ms. McGowan."
Representatives for Harvey have not commented on the accusations that he engineered her arrest.
What's still unclear is exactly how Harvey supposedly pulled this off. Could he have dispatched a Weinstein Company minion to breach the universal airport ticketing database, locate Rose's flight assignment, reserve a seat two rows behind her, make it past security with a packet of powder concealed on their person, hang around hoping she'd misplace some carry-on, snatch it, dust it with blow, and tuck it back beneath her seat?
This certainly doesn't help Harvey's reputation. He's about to lose another fan once Lindsay Lohan catches wind of this. "I can't believe you never once slipped coke in my wallet. I thought we were close!"
