Samsung originally unveiled the Notebook 7 Spin in 2016, and although its design didn't turn heads, the device delivered decent power without breaking the bank. This year, just before CES, the company is introducing a refreshed Notebook 7 Spin that incorporates a quad-core, eighth-generation Intel Core i5 processor, support for an Active Pen stylus, and a reduced weight for a more portable chassis.
Like its predecessor, the new model retains a 360-degree rotating display — and with the addition of stylus support, flipping it into tablet mode becomes far more practical. Keep in mind, however, that Samsung sells the Active Pen separately. Alongside the upgraded processor, the Notebook 7 Spin now includes a fingerprint reader that works with Windows Hello for faster sign-ins.
The rest of the Notebook 7 Spin's specifications are fairly typical: 8GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD, and one each of USB-C, USB 3.0, USB 2.0, and HDMI ports. Unlike the original, which came in both 15-inch and 13-inch variants, Samsung is only offering a 13-inch model this time, and its display resolution sticks to a modest 1080p. Completing the hardware are a backlit keyboard and a Windows Precision Trackpad — welcome features even for a mid-range device like this.
The Notebook 7 Spin is slated to hit shelves later this year, though Samsung has not yet announced a specific price or a firm release date.
