The world’s premier fashion gala has introduced a creative contest and moved its star-studded event entirely online.
The 2020 edition of the renowned Met Gala was canceled amid the COVID-19 outbreak. As a result, celebrities are sharing images from the 2019 gala, while planners shift the festivities to the digital realm, according to MTV.
Typically held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on May 4, the gala will be replaced by a virtual gathering named A Moment with the Met, organized by Vogue. The online affair will feature Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour and include a musical performance.
Stars from the fashion and entertainment worlds have begun uploading photos and clips showcasing the outfits they wore to the 2019 ball.
The event’s organizers have also launched a competition, urging participants to recreate their favorite Met Gala red carpet moments and share them on Instagram.
Internet users have enthusiastically embraced the challenge, producing a wide array of amusing “quarantine” ensembles.
