In fact, when discussing the sequel previously, Cameron highlighted the use of underwater motion capture technology. While this technique was employed in the original film, it was limited to terrestrial and aerial scenes. The method involves embedding numerous sensors into the performers' costumes, which are then tracked by specialized cameras that capture every movement in three-dimensional space.
The plot is anticipated to follow Jake Sally (the protagonist from the first film), who now has a young daughter with his beloved Neytiri, as he strives to protect Pandora's native inhabitants from human aggressors. Returning cast members include Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, and Sigourney Weaver. New additions to the ensemble are Kate Winslet, Vin Diesel, and Jamen Clement.
Looking ahead, Cameron plans to produce three additional installments of the franchise. 'We have completed the scripts for all four movies. We have cast the actors and performed motion capture for the second, third, and the initial portion of the fourth film,' the director stated.
Separated but cordial: more than ten celebrity pairs who preserved a friendly bond.
The global debut of the second installment is scheduled for December 2021. The subsequent three films are set to roll out between 2023 and 2026.
As a reminder, James Cameron's original Avatar premiered in late 2009 and earned over $2.7 billion at the global box office. For ten years, it held the record as the highest-grossing film worldwide until the final Avengers installment overtook it.
