Throughout the past year, eyebrows have emerged as a crucial element in every beauty look, commanding dedicated care. The journey began several years back with the trend of thick, full brows.
Across multiple years, eyebrow shape and thickness have evolved, and in 2020, a fresh trend took center stage: Soap Brows. Here we explain what Soap Brows entails and showcase images of fashionable eyebrows for 2020.
Soap Brows, also known as soapy eyebrows, refer to impeccably styled brows using a dedicated eyebrow soap. Beauty influencers have already embraced this trend and posted images of their fashionable brows across social media platforms.
This specialized cosmetic—eyebrow soap—secures your brows perfectly throughout the day while delivering an exceptionally natural appearance that many have longed for in recent times.
Model Kaya Gerber has already experimented with this emerging trend. Soap Brows suit Cindy Crawford's daughter remarkably well. Check out the image of Kaya, along with additional Soap Brows photos:

Certain makeup artists begin by applying soap to the brows with a brush, followed by eyeshadow or pencil to fill sparse areas. Conversely, Linda Halberg works with soap first to shape the brows, then applies shadow. Both techniques yield good results, though personal preference may require a few trials.
Which soap is best?
Not all soaps work for brow styling. Ideally, choose a glycerin-based soap without fragrance.
Glycerin soap's low pH means it's less drying and less likely to trigger allergic reactions or irritation—a crucial factor since the product may contact the eyes. Additionally, it avoids leaving a telltale white residue that would expose your styling methods.
How effective is this technique?
The primary benefit of this brow-fixing approach is its affordability and reliability. Soap is extremely inexpensive compared to specialty gels, yet it holds brows in place all day. Moreover, not every professional product performs flawlessly, whereas soap rarely disappoints.
What brow types work best?
It's wrong to assume that only those with naturally thick brows can employ the soap styling technique. Makeup artist Linda Halberg comments:
For sparser or finer brows, you might need to apply additional color to create a fuller appearance.
Disadvantages of using soap for brows
Despite being wonderful, cheap, and effective, the soap brow method does come with some downsides.
First, applying too much soap can become visible on the skin and may flake off. For those with very dry skin, especially worsened in cold weather, thoroughly moisturize the brow area before styling.
Second, using other makeup products like foundation, concealer, or powder around the brows may cause them to pill or slide off when they come into contact with soap.
If you sweat heavily or your brows get wet during the day, the soap may run into your eyes—an inconvenient and uncomfortable experience. In the end, this technique is better reserved for occasional use, with breaks in between, alternating with more conventional styling methods.
Don't hesitate to experiment with your brows and embrace new trends!
