If you're searching for an enjoyable and health-focused New Year's resolution, we'd love for you to participate in our four-week Weekday Weekend challenge, kicking off January 1st! As many are aware, this past autumn we released our debut cookbook, Weekday Weekend. It's more than just a collection of vibrant photographs and recipes—it's also a motivational framework to support your path toward better eating. Personally, I've always found that aspect tough; I adore food and struggle with restrictive diets or trends. When Elsie and I conceptualized this project, we were determined that it would showcase not only our passion for cuisine but also our genuine approach to nourishing ourselves for long-term wellness. And the best part? It's incredibly straightforward! All you need to do is adhere to five principles on weekdays (five days), then relax and recharge over the weekend. That's the whole plan! If you've never attempted something similar, this challenge is perfect for you—uncomplicated, fully maintainable, and demanding yet manageable to complete. Our hope is that after finishing the first round, you'll add more challenges or extend it by another week or two. The choice is yours!
Ideally, you've already grabbed a copy of our cookbook, since it details the guidelines and additional insights from the two dietitians who collaborated with us. It contains extensive explanations about the challenge's purpose, the reasoning behind it, and further details on numerous ingredients featured in the book. Additionally, there are plenty of recipes suitable for both weekday meals and weekend indulgences. 😊 However, even if you don't own the book yet, we warmly invite you to take part in the January challenge. Let's outline the key principles:
To reiterate, the challenge couldn't be easier. Beginning January 1st, stick to the five rules for five days each week, then pause and reward yourself with a treat over the weekend. If you'd like to document your journey, meals, or snapshots of your cookbook, please tag us using #weekdayweekend.
Throughout January, we'll be posting our daily meals on Instagram, primarily via stories. This should offer you additional inspiration and also act as a form of mutual accountability. I'll cheer you on if you do the same for me! 😊 I've certainly spent the past month indulging in various holiday treats and beverages, so I'm thrilled to press the reset button on my eating habits alongside all of you. It's going to be a great time!
For those seeking weekday-compatible dishes beyond the cookbook (which is packed with them), you can browse our weekday-approved recipes here. Additionally, we've launched a series featuring Sarah and Lindsey, the two dietitians from the cookbook, right here on the blog, and we'll be posting more content from them in the months ahead. Feel free to ask any questions! And don't hesitate or hold back! The challenge is straightforward, and if January 1st doesn't work for you, you're welcome to jump in a little later. Who knows, I might even continue my own challenge beyond the initial four weeks if I'm up for it. We'll see. 😊 I'm simply enthusiastic about a fresh start and a new challenge. xo. Emma
