Approximately five million demonstrators united across seven continents during last year's Women's March, rallying behind a mission focused on eliminating violence and defending reproductive rights, LGBTQ rights, workers' rights, disability rights, immigrant rights, and environmental justice. This year, demonstrations are scheduled in Washington D.C., New York City, Chicago, and numerous other cities. Yet the main event, Power to the Polls, is set for Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday, January 21st.
Nevada earned the spotlight as host for several factors, most notably because the state witnessed the Las Vegas shooting, the worst mass shooting in modern American history. Additionally, Nevada has faced its own wave of sexual assault and harassment claims against state-level politicians. Congressman Ruben Kihuen became the latest target of such allegations in December 2017.
The Power to the Polls website describes the gathering as the second act in a broader campaign striving for a more secure, fair, and just society. Its central aim involves boosting voter registration in pivotal swing states and sparking political involvement nationwide, followed by a national voter registration roadshow. Organizers expect a sizeable convergence of grassroots advocates, musical performers, and elected officials.

If Las Vegas is too far to travel, you can still join marches in Chicago, IL; New Orleans, LA; Nashville, TN; or one of the many other host cities on Saturday, January 20th.
