The story behind Proverb
Proverb's founders crossed paths while studying at Oxford University. Luke went on to sign a professional rugby contract with Harlequins RFC, going on to spend eleven seasons playing in the Premiership. Understandably, Luke treated his elite fitness and wellbeing as a top priority, which prompted him to team up with Kirstie in 2009 to launch their debut natural and organic collection. That label was reserved exclusively for spas and beauty salons.
That venture sparked the couple's next chapter, leading directly to the birth of Proverb. Their aim: to build a men's skincare brand that would encourage men to feel more self-assured about their skin, their body and, ultimately, their mental outlook.
Kirstie's deep expertise and enthusiasm for skin health, professional treatments and formulation gave Proverb the grounding it needed to push the concept forward, introducing men to a fuss-free four-step ritual that takes just four minutes a day. They named it the Proverb 4 x 4 x 4: four products, four movements, four minutes.
