Retro Trailer Revival: Rosie Gets a Glow-Up

Matt and Beau, the duo behind LGBTQ lifestyle blog Probably This, prove their versatility with a stunning vintage camper makeover that blends mid-century charm with modern style.

Retro Trailer Revival: Rosie Gets a Glow-Up

Matt and Beau, the creative force behind the LGBTQ lifestyle blog Probably This, are true multi-talents. Over the past few years, they’ve taught their audience how to cook, travel with flair, and dress to impress. As if that weren’t enough, this fall they added “home renovation” to their ever-expanding skill set when they purchased a vintage trailer named Rosie.

They discovered the 1969 Globestar traveler on eBay, and since bringing her home, they’ve replaced the flooring, overhauled the lighting, and cleverly maximized the compact layout to welcome both guests and pets. The result is a soft, serene oasis on wheels—a nod to the camper’s golden era with contemporary touches like modern wallpaper, copper accents, and updated fixtures. The space feels every bit as inviting as a permanent home, and after three months of dedicated work, it’s ready to hit the highway in style. Scroll through to see the transformation and hear more about everything this resourceful pair did to make Rosie truly shine. Enjoy! —Garrett

Image above: Matt and Beau had minimal renovation know-how when they took on this retro trailer. All told, the camper and its new furnishings cost them $10,000.

1/8 From the start, Matt and Beau made sure to honor the trailer’s 1960s roots. One way they did this was by keeping the camper’s original name: Rosie.

2/8 Faye Bell’s retro, southwestern-inspired artwork on Rosie’s exterior pays homage to her heyday, when camping and road-tripping were among America’s favorite pastimes.

3/8 Rosie is on the compact side. Lightening the richer tones of her cabinets and walls helps the space feel larger and much more airy.

4/8 The couple never travels without their dog, so they turned this cabinet into a cozy kennel and bed for their four-legged friend.

5/8 This area can become a second bed simply by removing the table and resting it on the edges of the accompanying benches.

6/8 One of the trickiest parts of the renovation was removing the top bunk from the sleeping area. It was so large it wouldn’t fit through the hall or doorway. Frustrated but determined, Beau and Matt eventually had to chop it up inside the tiny trailer to get it out.

7/8 Modern wallpaper keeps the space from feeling too retro.

8/8 Beau and Matt are most proud of the triangular floor they created alongside carpenter Chad Robin. “The (cedar) floors are particularly stunning in the morning when the light hits them. [They make] the entire trailer glow,” they say.
