Review of Berrisom Placenta Firming Hydrogel Eye Patch Set | THE YESSTYLIST Asian Fashion Blog

After testing numerous eye patches, the Berrisom Placenta Firming Hydrogel Eye Patch Set has become my top pick, outshining the Kracie Hadabisei Eye Zone Masks. Here's my full review.

I've experimented with a wide variety of eye patches over time, and I can confidently state that the Berrisom Placenta Firming Hydrogel Eye Patch Set has overtaken the Kracie Hadabisei Eye Zone Masks as my go-to choice.

This circular tub holds 30 pairs (60 individual) hydrogel eye patches and is priced at US$19.85. The packaging features burgundy and white tones that highlight the gold hue of the paisley-shaped patches. Beneath the screw cap, there's an additional plastic lid and a clear spatula—an essential tool. I store the whole box in the refrigerator to maintain a cool temperature and minimize moisture loss.

“Wait, Placenta?”

That's likely what you're wondering. One lesson from my product testing at The Beauty Lab is to never dismiss something before trying it. I recall feeling uneasy when I first learned about snail mucin in cosmetics. Nowadays, I stockpile containers of it.

Placental protein appears as the sixth ingredient on the list. Per EWG.org, this protein blend is sourced from animal placentas and functions as a conditioning agent and humectant for hair or skin. EWG assigns it a score of 5, indicating moderate potential health hazards, though it notes that current data is limited. COSDNA also rates it 5 for safety but does not specify if it could cause acne or irritation. Individuals with sensitive skin or those who prefer to avoid animal-derived components should consider other options.

Following my usual protocol, I applied a small amount of the serum to my skin for several days prior to using the patches. Since I experienced no negative reactions, I proceeded enthusiastically.

The Good Stuff

What truly excites me is the assortment of botanical and fruit extracts in the formula—Japanese camellia, broccoli, tomato, chamomile, green tea, centella, aloe, and others. Additionally, it contains hydrolyzed collagen, sodium hyaluronate, glycerin, allantoin, along with adenosine and arbutin. These last two ingredients are especially welcome because they offer scientifically backed brightening, firming, and anti-aging benefits that target my dark circles and dehydrated under-eye area.

These hydrogel patches are fairly thin, and because they are layered in the container, the spatula is necessary to lift them one by one. Despite their delicate appearance, they are saturated with essence yet remain non-drippy. Their paisley (or comma-like) design fits perfectly beneath the contour of my eyes, with the tail extending just beyond the outer corner—excellent coverage! They can also be applied to the nasolabial folds to help ward off smile lines.

By now, I had already gone through roughly 12 pairs of these patches.

Handle With Care

I apply these patches immediately after my essence or serum step, ensuring my skin remains slightly damp so the masks can lock in the nutrients. However, extracting each patch with the small spatula is challenging. Occasionally, I accidentally pick up two or three at once, and separating them proves difficult due to their delicate nature. They tear easily even with my short nails, so I exercise extreme caution when placing them under my eyes. I've damaged a few along the edges where I tend to pull, but they still performed adequately. Therefore, keep that spatula safe!

Always rely on the spatula.

What caught me off guard is how firmly these patches adhere once applied. Unlike many eye or sheet masks that slide off with movement, these stay put. I typically leave them on for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the edges begin to lift. After removal, they appear dry and creased, but my skin feels well-hydrated. I then complete my skincare routine, adding a touch of eye cream for extra care.

The patches have a faint fragrance that fades rapidly. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the results. I'm halfway through the container, and my under-eye area appears less dry each day, despite Hong Kong's current low humidity. I haven't observed a significant change in my dark circles yet, but I understand that such improvements take time. I plan to use up this entire set and then purchase another tub or two.
