Hello, dear friends! Welcome to our home. It truly means so much that you'd carve out time from this bustling season to stop by. Come on in!
We've put together a short, cheerful Christmas video showcasing our home—feel free to watch it now or before you leave! Just click to open YouTube and enjoy it in full screen.
If you're new here or haven't visited in a while, I'm so happy you've arrived! In case you're curious about where we live, we moved into this charming brick house in Seattle a little over two years ago. It's become our true home, and we adore it. Our backyard looks out over Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. I feel like we get the best of both worlds: city living paired with a peaceful retreat featuring stunning sunsets, snow-capped peaks, and the water.
Kitchen Remodel Details / Small Tree – Balsam Hill / Wreath & Dish Towel – Birch Lane
We remodeled our kitchen and tackled a few other projects this past year, so this holiday season is actually the first where our house isn't in disarray. 🙂
We have plenty more projects we hope to take on in this home, but for now we're settled in and feeling snug as a bug for winter!
Coffee Cup
I always aim to make our home feel a bit more magical and memorable during Christmas. Our focus is on savoring the meaningful intangibles that matter most: faith, family, our pups, and both old and new traditions and memories. To set the mood, I love to sprinkle Christmas sparkle throughout the house with greenery, a few small trees, cozy textures, twinkling lights, special seasonal items, and even some whimsical mementos here and there.
Repurposed Log Holder
Given the hustle and bustle of modern life, it's tempting to skip traditions or even forgo Christmas decorating in an effort to slow down. But even though we don't hold onto many things, it's still important for our family to bring out a few special items that spark family stories and memories from years past. There's something comforting and nourishing about those familiar Christmas traditions!
All of my non-Christmas kitchen remodel sources are here.
Yes, if you're new here, we have two Dutch doors in our home! They're my absolute favorite, so I couldn't stop at just one. You can find details on both of them here. The boxwood wreath and cute tree doormat are from Birch Lane.
Lights – Barn Light Electric (more details in this post)
This is our little front entry hall! The boxwood garland is from Birch Lane (I can't recall where I got the boxwood stars—I've had them for a few years now, and they keep beautifully!).
Galvanized Wall Hooks
The botanicals were from Ballard Designs, but unfortunately they're no longer available. However, here's a post with many other botanical sources! The little bench was from Target a few years ago (I just draped a winter scarf over it for coziness).
Framed Chalkboard / Zinc Card Holder
AWWW!
I've literally wrapped only two gifts. Just two. Plus I have one gift bag, which I'm not sure counts as gift wrap. I still have time, right?
Our tree is casual and just like our home—it never takes itself too seriously!
Even though our dogs still dismantle the tree and eat our ornaments (Jack is 6 1/2 now, so I'm not sure when he'll outgrow his puppyhood), we still try to salvage a few animals for the tree. This little guy is new, and I placed him WAY up high for safety.

I don't know about you, but pups in red flannel scarves bring me joy.

We always have our diffuser going with winter blends. Our house smells like Christmas right now (Christmas Spirit and Peppermint oil)—it's heavenly! (Info on the diffuser can be found here.)
White Velvet Stockings – Pottery Barn / Houses – Target / Footstool – Birch Lane
Tree and tree collar – Balsam Hill

Luke's Bedroom
My son's room looks quite festive with his tree, but I didn't manage to take any Christmas photos of our little master bedroom for this post.
If I get inspired to take some photos, I'll share them in a future post. I did put up a couple of tabletop trees in our room, so it feels very cozy! I'll probably want the little trees to stay up through winter—I love the white lights at night (honest confession: we left a white birch tree up ALL YEAR in our bedroom this past year!).
Tin Luminaries, Doormat & Wreath – Birch Lane
Before I let you go, I couldn't resist sharing one more photo of Jack.
It makes me laugh every time I see it. I feel like he's got the whole "the best way to spread Christmas cheer is by singing loud for all to hear" thing down. Don't you think?

I'm joining in with a small group of friends who are offering virtual Christmas tours this week, so go pay them a visit! Their homes are so pretty and welcoming.
