Michigan-based producer Tadd Mullinix has been active in music for quite some time, but after dropping two hip-hop records under the Dabrye name for Ghostly International—2001's One/Three and 2006's Two/Three—he ventured into other genres using different aliases. Now, in 2018, the Dabrye project makes its comeback with Three/Three, an album arriving on February 16 that boasts appearances from DOOM, Danny Brown, Ghostface Killah, Roc Marciano, and numerous others.
"Lil Mufukuz" follows the lead single "The Appetite," which featured Danny Brown, Roc Marciano, and Quelle Chris, and it hits hard. DOOM delivers his verses over the eerie beat, making for a worthy sequel to their 2006 collaboration "Air." DOOM's storytelling and vivid imagery remain unmatched, as he paints the competition as mere children and firmly puts them in their place.
Discussing how the track came together, Mullinix told The FADER, "On top of the legend blessing the beat, I was so pleased when he brought his brilliant narrative in direct response to the sample. As a producer, it can be intimidating working with a beatmaker of DOOM’s caliber."
