Simple Molten Chocolate Cakes – Cookies and Cups

Simple Molten Chocolate Cakes are surprisingly easy to whip up. They’re an elegant yet unfussy dessert that will truly impress!

If your kids are like mine, spotting a molten chocolate cake on a dessert menu means they’ll order it every time. Not that I’m complaining… I love a good molten chocolate cake myself. Sometimes they even let me have a bite. Sometimes.

But here’s something I recently discovered. These cakes are incredibly easy to make. Just one bowl, a microwave, and some oven time, and you’re set. My kids have actually learned to make them at home. On their own. That’s a major parenting win.

You really only need a few ingredients, most of which you probably already have in your pantry.

Some chocolate and butter…

And here’s the thing: you can definitely use high-quality chopped chocolate. The better the chocolate, the better the result, you know. BUT I’ve found that regular chocolate chips work just as well. I’m no chocolate snob.

Melt them together in the microwave…

Then stir in some powdered sugar…

And then add salt, vanilla, eggs, egg YOLKS, and flour. Mix everything together and divide the batter among 4 ramekins.

Bake until the edges are set but the centers are still jiggly, then flip them onto a plate and DIG IN!

And don’t forget the ice cream and chocolate sauce. I could say they’re optional, but that would be a lie.
