It’s unlikely we’ll ever hear the phrase, “And the Oscar for Best Actress goes to Elizabeth Hurley!” But one thing’s for sure: we can always count on Liz to flaunt her assets during a photoshoot. She jets across the globe with her girlfriends, showing them off at glamorous spots like Elton John’s home or Valentino’s villa—and her own son’s birthday is no exception. That’s where the critics have decided to raise a fuss.
According to Page Six, Elizabeth Hurley’s Instagram followers got their knickers in a twist when she posted a photo testing the limits of boob tape to wish her son, Damien Hurley, a happy 16th birthday. At first glance, I thought it was a charming mother-son moment, a playful contest of “Who can wear the tackiest Las Vegas casino carpet pattern?” But alas, many found it inappropriate for Liz to bare her chest for her “little prince.” One commenter scolded from their moral high ground, “Creepy showing off at your son’s birthday. Cover up, you’re a mum.” Don’t worry, user! She’s an equal-opportunity show-off. Just look at what she did with her recovering nephew, fully covered, at Easter!
Some came to Liz’s defense. One fan wrote, “You and your son, please enjoy yourselves and live your lives. Don’t worry about the naysayers. Best wishes.”
I don’t understand why everyone is so touchy about this! It’s not like she celebrated his birthday with what I imagine is a Hurley family tradition: trying on that Versace safety pin dress and flying to Lake Como for a week of smoking Parliaments with Aunt Donatella. Heck, she could have used him as a test subject for Estée Lauder blush and foundation prototypes—but she didn’t!
