Naomi Watts occupies that genuinely uncommon category of women who combine world-class acting ability with breathtaking allure. My admiration for her sparked when I first encountered her in David Lynch's masterful movie Mulholland Dr., and I've remained captivated by her skill and appearance ever since. Having earned two Academy Award nominations for 21 Grams and The Impossible, many felt she was unfairly passed over for I Heart Huckabees, Funny Games, Eastern Promises, and this year's The Glass Castle.
The star appeared absolutely magnificent in a rose-hued gown while collecting a prize at Germany's Die Goldene Kamera (The Golden Camera) Awards the previous evening. Sharing the stage with her The Impossible co-star Ewan McGregor, she radiated pure glamour throughout the event.
To mark her accomplishments, I'm considering a brief Naomi Watts movie marathon this weekend featuring Mulholland Dr. alongside three or four other titles. Or perhaps I'll simply replay Mulholland Dr. on repeat. That remarkable intimate sequence she performs with Laura Herring is particularly worth revisiting. Whatever approach one takes, time spent with Naomi Watts is always rewarding, and any scenes featuring her undressed make it even better!
