Sugar ranks as the most widespread food additive—present in roughly 80% of items lining grocery shelves! Pretty staggering, right? Even followers of an organic lifestyle can be undermined by sugar daily if they don't scrutinize their choices closely. That's because items you'd swear contain no added sugar—think yogurt, salad dressings, canned vegetable soup, or pasta sauce—often hide generous amounts of refined sweeteners.
You might also argue, "I only use organic sugar, honey, or maple syrup…" Choosing organic sugar is certainly wiser since it's non-GMO and free from cancer-linked synthetic chemicals—but organic sugar remains sugar.
