The divorce is now complete: Randall Emmett, the 46-year-old film producer and boyfriend of Lala Kent, is no longer wed. His marriage to Ambyr Childers, an actress known for Ray Donovan, has been legally dissolved after eight years. The ex-spouses have two daughters.
They tied the knot in 2009, split up in 2015, and separated once more in 2016. A divorce petition was submitted in January 2017. The legal proceedings concluded on December 22, only weeks after Emmett and Kent were seen sharing a kiss at a FabFitFun gathering in Beverly Hills on December 7.
Regarding his romance with the Vanderpump Rules star, the couple seemingly attempted—unsuccessfully—to conceal their involvement until Emmett's divorce from the 29-year-old Childers was finalized.
During the series, the Bravo personality consistently refuted claims that her secret partner was married and financing her extravagant life. Following inquiries from Katie Maloney, Jax Taylor, and other cast members about her romance, Kent resigned from her hostess position at Lisa Vanderpump's Sur—and consequently left the popular program—in the middle of Season 5.
“The constant negativity eventually wore me down. I struggle to keep my personal life separate from my professional one, so it began affecting my daily interactions with people not involved in the show,” Kent explained to E! News a year ago. “When that started, I knew it had to stop.”
Kent returned to the show three episodes into Season 6 (which airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on Bravo), confessing that Emmett had indeed purchased her Range Rover—a vehicle she couldn't have afforded on a hostess's pay. However, she clarified to Vanderpump, “My man isn't an ATM.”
Even though multiple cast members frequently dropped Emmett's first name in interviews and on social platforms, Kent kept shielding him. At the Season 5 reunion, broadcast in spring 2017, host Andy Cohen directly questioned her: “Are you involved with a married man?”
“No,” Kent answered. “Nobody will ever receive the response they're after. I apologize for not putting my relationship in the spotlight—not now, not ever. And I won't even confirm that.”
“All of us have opened up our lives to the public, and you can't just waltz in and lie about everything,” Stassi Schroeder countered. Kent retorted, “I also can't talk about another person's life on national TV when they never agreed to be part of this—and that's all I'll say.”
When Schroeder pressed whether Kent was hiding Emmett's identity because he was “married,” Kent shouted: “That's enough, OK? It's over! Quit bullying me! Drop it! It's none of your concern! Cut it out! Stop acting like a mean girl! Don't mess with my relationship, you bitch! Back the hell off!”
Once the romance became public knowledge, E! News contacted representatives for both Kent and Emmett. Kent first used her boyfriend's full name openly during an Instagram Live Story on December 19. While celebrating in Las Vegas with James Kennedy, Ariana Madix, Tom Sandoval, and others, the Bravo star asked someone off-screen, “What does Randall Emmett mean to you?”
(E! and Bravo are both part of the NBCUniversal network.)
