Marking Miami Design Week 2017, Italian designer Mario Milana unveiled an exclusive run of his Asana Ground Chair at Les Ateliers Courbet's Miami branch, located within The Surf Club — a space crafted by Joseph Dirand inside the Four Seasons Hotel. The standard model features Italian leather, whereas this collector's piece is hand-sewn and covered in an off-white bouclé textile supplied by Pierre Frey.
Designed as a low-slung seat, the chair draws the sitter nearer to the floor, encouraging both bodily equilibrium and inner calm.
The moniker draws from the Sanskrit yoga concept 'asana,' denoting a pose that delivers ease and stability. Supporting that intent, the backrest can be raised or lowered as needed.
