Our Primary Suite Refresh has hit a major milestone! The new bedframe, linens, and area rug have all been delivered, and I'm completely smitten with how everything looks together. You'll also catch a glimpse of our brand-new window shutters in this write-up, though I'll save the full rundown on those for another day.
For anyone just joining us, we settled into our Seattle home roughly two and a half years back. At move-in, the compact room we'd chosen as our primary suite had sunny yellow walls. Charming as that was, I was eager to repaint and turn it into something far more snug and inviting.
Our first pick was a rich plum hue that transformed this petite space into the coziest of retreats. We were absolutely thrilled with it! Relocating and renovating inevitably drags on and wears you down, so having a snug little haven to curl up in over the past two years felt like such a gift.
Eventually, though, the moment arrived to truly claim this space as our own. We gutted and rebuilt our kitchen from top to bottom, fully aware it would set the design tone for the entire house. There's something wonderful about watching a home start clicking into place and feeling unified as one. That evolution never gets old!
My mom was ready to reclaim her sleigh bed (the very one we've been sleeping in for years). I'd had this gorgeous cane bed from Serena & Lily pinned to my dream room mood board forever! So many aspects of it speak to me. Beyond its timeless silhouette and lovely cane detailing, the proportions are spot-on for our snug room (which measures 12 x 14, for those of you who've been asking about the dimensions!).
Our prior bed was pleasant, but it swallowed a lot of visual real estate with its curves, heft, and dark finish. This piece is far more pared-back, sporting a clean-lined headboard and footboard that tucks into the space beautifully. I'm also a fan of its taller stance with those slim, graceful legs. It's wild how much more spacious the whole room reads now that the rug is visible nearly all the way beneath the bedframe.
The footboard height strikes the ideal balance: tall enough to stop our pup Lily from rolling out at night, yet low enough that Jack doesn't hurt himself attempting to vault over it. Honestly, it's absolutely ideal!
I adore how the wood, cane, white, and blue all echo the aesthetic direction we're steering our entire home. As the house pulls together, each space will carry a gentle, crisp yet playful, laid-back coastal vibe (something we adore and that makes total sense given our setting along Puget Sound. Puget Sound is an inlet of the Pacific Ocean, and part of the Salish Sea.).

The bedding is such a delight, and I'm wild about the understated touches like the playful motif on the shams, the fringe edging on the sheets, the decorative stitching on the quilt, and those charming tassels on the throw. And that whimsical Dhurrie rug couldn't be more perfect! It adds softness, visual interest, and anchors the whole room. Plus, the sheets are generously deep-pocketed, so I could actually wrestle them onto my extra-thick mattress without breaking a sweat!
We're genuinely thrilled with the progress we've made! A handful of updates remain on our wish list and we'll tackle them down the road (we're still mulling over our mirrored closet doors, for example), but I believe this is a sensible place to pause for now.
This room radiates calm, comfort, and warmth!
