Warner Bros. has dropped the first preview for Ocean’s 8, the upcoming chapter in the beloved Ocean’s franchise. But instead of Clooney, Damon, and Pitt, this installment features Bullock, Blanchett, and Bonham Carter!
If you’ve seen Ocean’s 11, 12, or 13, you’re likely familiar with the formula: a star-studded group bands together to swipe valuables from a villain. However, rather than being led by Danny Ocean (George Clooney), the Ocean’s 8 team follows his estranged sister, Debbie, portrayed by the brilliant Sandra Bullock.
Her ensemble is packed with top-tier women, including Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Sarah Paulson, Mindy Kaling, and Awkwafina. Their mission? To execute the heist of the century during New York City’s annual Met Gala and settle the score with Debbie’s ex, played by Homeland’s Damian Lewis.
The preview is impressive, beginning with Bullock in an orange prison outfit at a parole hearing, pledging to embrace “the simple life” if freed. It’s packed with witty banter, and since the heist unfolds at the Met Gala, there’s a stunning array of glamorous outfits on display.
Beyond Bullock’s core crew, the trailer also features Richard Armitage and James Corden, who appear near the end. Additionally, the studio has confirmed multiple cameos, including… brace yourself?… Dakota Fanning, Matt Damon, Anna Wintour, Kim Kardashian West, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Olivia Munn, Katie Holmes, Zayn Malik, Zac Posen, Adriana Lima, and Serena Williams.
Helmed by Gary Ross and produced by Clooney and Steven Soderbergh, Ocean’s 8 is set to hit UK theaters on June 22, 2018. Watch the trailer below and share your thoughts!
