If we were to list our ultimate obsessions, coffee and selfies would undoubtedly land in the top five, alongside celebrities like Kit Harrington. That’s why the launch of ‘Selfieccinos’ has us buzzing with excitement. The Tea Terrace in London has rolled out futuristic technology that allows customers to have their own selfies imprinted on the foam of their cappuccinos!
Blending the selfie phenomenon with a hearty cup of coffee, The Tea Terrace is the first venue in the UK and Europe to debut what it calls the ‘Selfieccino’. Each cappuccino arrives with the customer’s selfie printed on its froth, using a printer that scans the image and injects edible food coloring into the foam to recreate the picture.
The process is simple: take a selfie, then send it via a messaging app to the barista at The Tea Terrace. The barista places the cappuccino mug under the high-tech printer, which transfers the selfie onto the froth in less than 30 seconds.
This isn’t The Tea Terrace’s first foray into photo-worthy coffee experiences. A few years ago, they introduced fairy-tale ‘throne chairs’, and last May, the tea rooms unveiled Cinderella-style golden princess carriages where guests can dine with a delicious cupcake or choose from over 25 different tea flavors.
The Selfieccino will first be available at The Tea Terrace’s branch on the 5th floor of House of Fraser, Oxford Street in London. It will then be rolled out to their branches at House of Fraser on Victoria Street in London and House of Fraser in Guildford, Surrey. Visit The Tea Terrace website for more details.
