Stunning Room Transformations: Our Top Home Makeovers

Interior design is a favorite topic among our readers, particularly home tours and room makeovers. In this post, we’re showcasing our top before-and-after transformations from our own residences, plus some nostalgic looks at our old studio and Habitat House—because who doesn’t love a good memory trip?

Laura infused her front dining area with soft blush paint, a vintage-inspired chandelier (find a similar style here), and her signature gold-and-white touches to create a stunning transformation.

Without question, the most memorable before-and-after was our entire Habitat for Humanity house project—this home desperately needed care. Click here to see more images of this radiant kitchen.

Elsie’s breakfast nook was what some might call kitschy, but it didn’t match her style. She made it her own with a fresh coat of white paint and her vibrant glassware collection.

This area served as a meeting space and prop storage; as the before photo shows, it’s hard to believe it’s the same room! We chose a daring look with black paint and a handmade feather light fixture.

Mandi gave her kitchen a major overhaul (see the final reveal here) and we’re still admiring the plank backsplash she created. That’s right—she’s a DIY genius! If you’re renovating on a budget, be sure to check this one out.

Um … WOW. Emma’s home office is anything but dull. Her aim? Improve lighting and inject more color. She added this stunning light fixture and crafted the happiest color scheme.

Even with limited space, hallways can be tricky to decorate perfectly. Here are five super helpful tips to get them right.

So.much.wood.paneling. Haha! To this day, the ABM studio kitchen remains our favorite before-and-after. Among many upgrades, we added concrete countertops, a window ledge plant shelf, and cheerful yellow paint.

How is this the same living room? Elsie had a vision when she purchased her home, and this was one of the first spaces to receive a major makeover. The first step? Removing the old blue carpet and adding color-washed floors.

This outdoor area reminds us of summer (miss you) but we wanted to include it. As you can see, there wasn’t much happening before we added the bench, concrete block floor, DIY pillows, and cushions.

Emma’s master bathroom received a major tile upgrade, additional storage, and plenty of spa-inspired vibes.

Another incredible before-and-after from Elsie’s home—her kitchen! From the open shelving to the recolored appliances, it’s pure perfection.

One way to create a big impact without spending much? Paint your front door a bright, bold color. That, along with white walls and cozy decor, made the Habitat House living room incredibly welcoming.

Another jaw-dropping moment? Laura’s backyard patio. The (DIY) painted tile truly made the space. But it wouldn’t look as good if she hadn’t painted the outside of her home white. Elsie did the same to hers and the difference is remarkable. If painting your home’s exterior isn’t possible, you can still update a patio with pretty lighting, planters, and new furniture.
