While planning this space, I got incredibly lucky and came across a gorgeous vintage iron furniture set at the Pasadena flea market, which I then restored.
The dining table and four chairs were created by mid-century designer Arthur Umanoff (1950s–60s). Normally, such sets sell for $2,000 to $5,000, so I scored an unbelievable deal when I paid just $300 at the market. Sure, the pieces were covered in rust and the vinyl seat covers were torn and worn—but that was nothing a bit of refurbishing couldn’t handle! After all, this is Los Angeles! Just kidding, just kidding.
BEFORE: Discovered this aged, rusty vintage table and chairs at the Rose Bowl Flea Market in Pasadena, California. Clearly, it demanded a lot of care and attention!
AFTER: With some hard work and polishing, this iron table and chairs underwent a complete makeover. They now look as good as new!
Here’s the breakdown of what it cost me to restore this charming outdoor ensemble:
- Vintage Arthur Umanoff Metal Table & Chairs: $300
- Delivery: $125
- Powder Coating (Matte White Finish): $400
- Upholstered Seat Cushions (Blue Outdoor Fabric): $300
- TOTAL REFURB: $1125
Keep in mind… these sets retail for thousands more online! One person’s discarded items are my prized finds!
To give you a sense of how much these sets are currently selling for, take a look at these examples here and here.
The other chairs you see are the teak pieces I previously had on my patio at my cottage in the Hollywood Hills. I’ve owned them for roughly 15 years, believe it or not! For a trip down memory lane, revisit my earlier patio makeovers by clicking here and here!
Both rugs on my upper patio feature the COCOCOZY Tower Court design. I also mixed COCOCOZY pillows with more affordable ones from Pier One on the benches and two armchairs.

There you have it! I hope you all discover a spot in your home that brings you as much tranquility as this one brings me.
