A perfectly fitting condom is like Goldilocks’ ideal porridge—snug enough to stay put, yet comfortable for your partner.
In a perfect world, you’d grab the right size off the drugstore shelf without a second thought. But what if you discover mid-romp that the fit is off? Unfortunately, there’s no quick fix short of reaching for a new pack.
“There’s no DIY option,” says Levkoff. “As fun as condoms can be, they are medical devices regulated by the FDA. That means in order to maintain the integrity of the condom, it has to be used as designed.” So please, no MacGyver-style improvisation with plastic wrap.

Rather than letting frustration ruin the moment, turn condom shopping into a playful part of foreplay. Don’t hesitate to try different brands and sizes until you find the perfect match, advises Levkoff. “Instead of guessing, ask your partner what he buys and what he likes,” she says. Think of it less as an awkward grocery-list question and more as a chance to get a little erotic together. “There is fun in having that conversation,” Levkoff adds. “Can it be awkward? Sure. But, hey, sex is awkward. That doesn’t make it bad.” Consider this your excuse to experiment Goldilocks-style until you discover the one that’s just right.
