The Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities, responsible for safeguarding the nation’s rich historical and cultural legacy, has introduced a series of complimentary virtual excursions through tombs and other renowned structures tied to the birthplace of the pharaohs. The ministry shares links to these tours on social media platforms, accompanied by the hashtag #StayHome.
These virtual tours consist of 3D models constructed from numerous images, creating an experience similar to Google’s “Street View” feature—except here, the paths lead through tombs and ancient locations instead of streets. Users can navigate freely within the digital replica, zoom in with the camera, and linger inside as long as they wish, with no one rushing them out. Additionally, the 3D model eliminates the need to wait in lines.
