Halloween Baking Idea: Witch Finger Cookies That Look Eerily Real
What You'll Need
- Butter – 150 g.
- Sugar – 150 g.
- Egg – 1 pc.
- Vanilla – a pinch, to taste
- Salt – a pinch
- Baking powder – 1 tsp
- Flour – 350-400 g.
- Almonds – one per finger
- Chocolate or jam
How to Make Them
- Start by beating softened butter with sugar until creamy. Blend in the vanilla.
- Add the egg and whisk until fully incorporated.
- Combine the remaining dry ingredients — salt, flour, and baking powder — in a separate bowl. Gradually work them into the wet mixture, kneading into a firm dough that doesn't stick to your palms.
- Cover the dough with plastic wrap and place it in the fridge for 2 hours.
- Once chilled, pinch off small portions and roll them into finger shapes. Use a knife to carve knuckle creases along each one.
- Melt the chocolate, loosen it with a splash of water, and dab it onto the fingertip area where the nail will sit. Jam can be substituted if preferred.
- Gently press an almond onto each dabbed spot to serve as the fingernail.
- Transfer the shaped cookies to an oven preheated to 180°C and bake for approximately 20 minutes.
