Nintendo has unveiled a quirky, inventive lineup of DIY add-ons for the Switch, constructed mostly from corrugated cardboard and built to spark creative play. Branded as Labo, these kits are clearly tailored toward the youngest gamers out there.
If you're keen to dive in early, expect a brief delay — Nintendo won't start shipping these packages until late April. That said, both kits are open for advance reservation today.
Nintendo Labo Variety Kit
This bundle takes center stage in Nintendo's promotional footage, featuring five distinct builds that you and your child can assemble and enjoy with the Switch console. The package includes the following:
- 1 Mini Piano
- 2 RC Cars
- 1 House
- 1 Fishing Rod
- 1 Motorbike
The kit carries a $69.99 price tag and bundles in the Switch software needed to run each experience. Shipping begins April 20.

Nintendo Labo Robot Kit
Rather than offering multiple smaller builds, this kit centers on a single ambitious project. It transforms your child into the game controller — once suited up in the cardboard robot rig, they can stomp around, throw punches, and see their movements mirrored on the TV screen.
Gameplay footage echoes a concept Nintendo floated years back for the Wii U, where players wielded the GamePad to rampage as a colossal mech, flattening structures. Thanks to the Switch and this new Labo offering, that idea gets a serious upgrade in immersion.
The Robot Kit is priced at $79.99 and includes both the supporting game and the cardboard components. Delivery is also scheduled for April 20.
