First, my apologies if you're tired of seeing floor painting updates this week. It's our current reality, and I like sharing authentic, in-the-moment content. Two days ago I answered your FAQs about painted floors [HERE]. Today I want to introduce the final room we need to paint [for now]. It's the largest room and has the most furniture, which adds complexity. However, I believe it will deliver the most dramatic transformation once completed.
Not looking great at the moment, but here's some more appealing progress in the sunroom…
& here's another view of this room before we tore it up to paint the floors…
Don't be fooled by how light and bright the photos appear—it was a super sunny day and they've been brightened. The painted floors aren't the only change we have planned. We'll also rearrange furniture for better flow and functionality, including adding a TV—many of you have asked about our TV, so I'm excited to reveal its eventual location. As I've mentioned before, this room is extremely dark! It has only two small windows (the front door is blocked by a half-wall, and another leaded glass window across the entryway doesn't help much). When we stained the floors, we loved them, but it made the room even darker. Hopefully, the new painted floors will brighten the space and make us fall in love with it again. Here's a view from the painted dining room into the front entryway area that connects to the front living room…
So for now, this is where we stand. Today I started applying the first coat of paint on the front living room and entryway floors. The front of the house is a complete mess, but my vision is a beautiful, bright room with lots of cozy, airy space for relaxation. I can't wait to see that vision come to life. I'm a bit scared of the sweat and time this room will demand, but equally excited for the final result. Thanks for putting up with our messy life for now and for enjoying the in-between with us in our fixer-upper. Also, thank you for the kind words and encouragement on this big floor-painting project—it means the world to us!! xx
