Mauricio Umansky, the husband of Kyle Richards, shared a touching message on Instagram this past Saturday, December 30, after thieves reportedly made off with over $1 million in possessions from their $8.2 million residence.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills couple's Encino, California property was ransacked on Wednesday, December 27, while they were enjoying a getaway in Aspen, Colorado.
According to TMZ, the intruders shattered a window and walked away with more than $1 million in jewelry, which included around $150,000 in watches belonging to Umansky. Nearly every piece of Richards' jewelry was taken, with the exception of the items she had packed for the trip.
A sentimental gold wedding ring bearing the engraving "Mauricio forever" vanished, alongside a pair of $100,000 earrings Umansky, 47, had presented to his wife to commemorate their 20th anniversary, per TMZ. Luxury handbags from designers like Hermes Birkin and Chanel also disappeared during the raid.
In response, Umansky uploaded a carousel of nine family snapshots featuring Richards, 48, and their four daughters — Farrah, 29, Alexia, 21, Sophia, 17, and Portia, 9. He paired the images with the caption, "2017 Memories #family Nothing replaces Family. They can steal your belongings but they can't steal your memories or your love."
Sophia contributed her own Instagram post, sharing a picture of herself wrapped in a hug with both parents. "All that matters," the teenager noted beneath the image.
TMZ further reported that a miscommunication left the property's advanced security system disarmed, allowing the perpetrators to enter and exit the two-story, seven-bedroom, eight-bathroom estate without being noticed. They allegedly scaled a ladder to reach a second-floor balcony before zeroing in on the master bedroom closets. Renovation work had also knocked the surveillance cameras offline.
Compounding the situation, the family's three dogs — among them a sizable German Shepherd — were away from the residence, completing a five-week training program in obedience.
