Annually, I anticipate the arrival of trench coat season. In Los Angeles, it rarely arrives before late autumn—and sometimes not even then. So whenever I finally get to wear my go-to fall outerwear, I’m absolutely thrilled. This year, I’ve developed a particular obsession with suede trench coats (this one is a favorite). I adore the texture and depth they bring to any ensemble. A trench coat is undeniably a timeless staple, yet each season it manages to feel refreshingly current. The one featured in today’s post is about three years old, but it remains one of my all-time favorite coats. It pairs beautifully with jeans and ankle boots, skinny pants and over-the-knee boots, and this season I’m especially fond of wearing it over a slip dress. That combination works for both daytime and evening—it’s relaxed yet polished. I personally prefer boots with this look, but sneakers for day or heels for cocktails are equally stylish.
